1. Own WordPress blog – Start blogging!
WordPress is one of the most popular platforms. When you log into your blog, you can see statistics about your most popular posts in the last week, as well as how readers searched to end up on your blog. This gives you a great idea of what your readers like and what to write about to keep them (and attract new readers, of course).
2. Tips to blog about
Based on the keywords, you can start blogging follow-up posts on previous posts. You can also come up with new ideas based on your most popular posts. In the image above, we see that "rolled cheese milk” and “furniture decorated with aluminum tape” were some searches. Okay, so readers love home remodeling with easy tips, what else can you recommend? If instead you wrote a popular post about short hair trends 2015, do a new post about long hair trends 2015 and see if it gets as many views.
3. Good blogs
What is it? Sorry, but no one is interested in you as a person at first. No one will end up on your blog because someone searched “what did X eat for breakfast?” However, you can write about a breakfast you ate at, for example, the Gang Hotel. What was good, what was bad? People who are interested in the breakfast/brunch at the Grand Hotel will then end up on your blog. The same goes for clothes, don't just write I bought a new pair of jeans. What brand was it? Where did you buy them? Start blogging about what you are interested in, but give something extra to the reader.
4. Tags and categories are a must
Through tags and categories, your posts will be visible for specific searches such as “breakfast”, “brunch”, “Grand Hotel”. For categories the same applies, a reader is looking for a good dog blog, if your blog has interesting categories it is more likely that the reader will follow your blog. Add categories and tags right away when you start blogging, so it becomes a habit.
5. Leaderboards!
Starting blogging leaderboards gives your blog a jump start. Which posts do you usually share on Facebook? I dare to guess that a large part are top lists of funny words, best travel destinations, tips on how to improve something, etc. In other words, there is a high chance that your blog post about an excellent leaderboard will get shared. Write about the best bikinis, the best lunch spots, which stars earn the most? What are the nicest beaches… the list can be made long.
Top 10 nicest beach?
6. Tips. Give advice. Help someone.
Tell me where you bought the super bike helmet. How did you make your own wallpaper paste? The reader is interested in information that can improve their life in some way, help them with that! This is also exceptional for them to start blogging about you and your blog.
7. Current events
Which dresses did you think were the prettiest at the Oscars? Has any celebrity done something stupid? Did you see a movie at the cinema, what was it about? People love celebrities, that's a fact. Keep up to date and find inspiration on, among other things, the Daily Mail, HELLO! Magazine, OK, Perez Hilton, etc. Aftonbladet and Expresses often copy their stories. Good blogs are first with the latest news, so start blogging right in the morning. The earlier you are, the faster your post will appear in the search engines on Google.
8. Factual posts
Write about how a car engine works. Who really was Coco Chanel? How many rooms does Stockholm Palace have, and which is the world's largest statue? Factual questions are Googled daily. Wikipedia is a good source, but DO NOT copy! If they wanted to read Wikipedia, they would have chosen that link because it is most likely to be before your post on Google. Simply make the post more personal and even more interesting. A good approach to your posts is "what did I Google today?" If you start blogging your answers to questions, more people out there will definitely want to read the answer!
9. Keep an eye on Facebook
What are your friends doing? What do they write on their statuses? Is it dull weather, rainy, dreary summer? Write a post about it and dream away to warmer weather. Cold and rain make Swedes search for travel. Write about a place you want to go to or where you have been. Don't just write: "It's raining, I want to go to Paris!" Why do you want to go to Paris? What do you want to do there? Have you been to Paris, what did you do? Did you eat at a good place? Did you shop at any good stores that you can recommend? Start blogging about travel destinations and your followers will increase with the raindrops. Read comments on TripAdvisor if you describe the hotel you are staying at/want to stay at. The same applies to restaurants, museums and beaches.
10. Comment
Surely it's fun when your readers leave comments on your blog? When they actually went to that restaurant or bought that bike helmet you recommended? Do yourself a favor and write comments on other people's posts if there is something that inspires you. If someone gives you an idea to start blogging about, be sure to mention them in your post with link, and leave a comment on their post that you were so inspired that you wrote your own post and linked to them, everyone likes an ego boost .
