 Should you start making money with AdSense, the question of how many visitors is required for it to be worthwhile is a legitimate question. How many visitors do you need, what can you do to earn money already with few visitors, and how can you get even more visitors and earn even more money on your website?

When you have started a blog or website, it has easily happened that you start thinking about the possibilities of starting to make money on your website quite early on. In fact, it doesn't take many visitors or extensive content for Google AdSense to approve you as an advertiser. However, there are some aspects you should consider before starting to implement AdSense ads at an early stage.

Your primary focus early on should be creating really wonderful content and building a loyal readership. Starting with Google Ads will take your focus away from creating great content and if we're being completely honest, the ads will probably only bring you a couple of kroner a month.

Using advertising can reduce your trust capital and as a new blogger, your trust capital is basically zero. Therefore, you may ask yourself whether it might not be better to invest in building trust first. You and your blog exist because you want to say something because you want your readers to be well and not because you would like to make money from ads.

To be successful with AdSense, you need to test yourself. You have to test different ad sizes, place the ads in different places on your page, and experiment with what makes people click on your ads. To be able to test this at all, many visitors are required. Up to 200 unique visitors a day can be a good indication of what is required to make reliable tests.

If you haven't built up your page with enough content, you probably won't have much organic traffic either. Organic traffic includes all those who come to your site via search engines such as Google. These visitors have a much greater tendency to click on ads. The reason is that those who use Google are often seeking a product or service and perhaps the answer to a question. Then the ad on your page could be the answer to exactly their concerns. A visitor who comes to your site regularly, on the other hand, is probably only interested in your content and will not click on your ads under any circumstances.

The number of visitors required to make money

How many visitors you need to make money from AdSense depends largely on the content of your page. If you have a page about buying insurance, more people will definitely click on your ads than if you make a page about what you eat for a snack. This is because those searching for “buy insurance” are more likely to click through to a source for purchase than those looking to read about snacks. So that the visitors are more willing to click on the ad is the one aspect.

The second is the willingness of advertisers to appear alongside the content on your page. After all, the advertisers' objective is to sell more and make more money from advertising—this means that they prefer to show their ads on pages that are relevant to their business and where there is the greatest chance that they will sell something. In insurance, for example, there are many companies that want to advertise and then the prices that the advertisers have to pay are driven up, and you earn more for each click that is made on your ads. On a page that writes about what you eat for snacks, there probably aren't that many advertisers who would like to be seen, and therefore you will get paid less for each click that is made on your ad.

So what can you expect to earn?

According to previous reasoning, it is the number of visitors, their willingness to click on your ads and the advertisers' inclination to appear in the same context as the content of your page that determines how much you will earn. However, we can do some quick rough math to get a greater idea of ​​what it takes for you to make money.

The number of visitors who click on ads is quite low, and it is extremely difficult to increase the percentage. For a normal website, you can count on between 1%—3% of visitors clicking on the ads. How much you earn per click varies, but let's say you theoretically earn SEK 1.70 per click.

So, how many clicks would you need to earn 100 kroner?

and if we count on 3% of your visitors clicking on your ads, you will need quite a few visitors before you get your 59 clicks:

In other words, expect to need 1,967 visitors before you earn your first hundred bucks .

Certainly, there are pages that get significantly more people to click on the ads and that earn more per click. Is this your first time considering using AdSense, or have you just started using AdSense? Then you should probably be happy if you even manage to get 1% of visitors to click on your ads. That in turn would mean that you will need 5900 visitors before you have earned your first hundred. Also keep in mind that AdSense only pays out money to your bank account when you have earned a total of SEK 700. In that case, it would mean for you that you need to have upwards of 41,300 visitors before you can count on your first payment.

How to make money on the website?

Don't start trying to make money with AdSense too soon. Spend time creating perfect and comprehensive content instead. Every month we have earned between 800 and 1500 kroner from advertisements. For the most part, we have not earned with AdSense. Instead, we have mainly made money from commission-based advertisements—so-called affiliate marketing.

They have many of Sweden's best-known companies and brands among their advertisers. If you know your visitors well and know what they like, it is easier to make money with commission-based ads.

If you don't know what your visitors like, it's better with Google AdSense. But don't forget that you need quite many visitors to make money with AdSense.
